The Mar

I randomly rewatched "Blackfish", the documentary about the orcas kept at SeaWorld, with a buddy. This is an old film, from 2013, and the issue of their unstimulating living conditions went viral back in the day. Still, I could not help but be horrified that we decided to capture and breed animals with emotional capacities similar to humans and make them perform repetitive tricks and live in a swimming pool.

I may write a short story based on this later, albeit with my own made up creature, as opposed to an orca. I wanted to design something that would look comical and harmless when surfacing from the water, but majestic and powerful when submerged. The result was these things, known as The Mar.
